WORKSHOPS – VESLARC conducts customized workshops for students, teachers and support staff, on two kinds of themes – world-management skills and self-management values. With durations ranging from 1 hour to one day, these are on topics like confident public speaking, time management, developing stress insulation, goal planning, healthy self-esteem, ethics and values in daily life, professionalism, the art of presenting oneself in group discussions and interviews, grooming and etiquette for the corporate world, and so on.
TALK FOR PARENTS – A parent is perhaps the most important stakeholder, in the process of empowering the student to productivity and good citizenship. VESLARC conducts talks and short workshops for parents of students in the VES family, on themes such as tackling growing consumerism, spirituality in parenting, acceptance of the uniqueness of the child and so on.
ANTARSHUDDHI – The name for VESLARC’s ezine means “Internal Cleansing”. Each edition seeks to offer some “food for the mind”, in the form of a theme (such as, who is a true teacher), some words of wisdom from Swami Vivekananda, and a “how to” segment, with tips on converting the theoretical concepts into practice. Some of the e-zine themes have been: being non- judgmental, the need for practice, interconnectedness and giving back, the dharma of growth, and the joy of parenting.
ANTARMUKHITA – Amidst busy lives, we all feel the need for inner calm. Antarmukhita sessions are designed to share mind-stilling techniques. Each 1-hour segment focuses on one wellness theme such as positivity, forgiveness, acceptance, teamwork and so on, followed by a visualization-affirmation session. Hand “mudras”, easy stretching practices, “pranayama” and certain yogasanas are also sometimes included.
JIGYAASA – How do we help the student approach the counsellor for a mental-emotional challenge? And how do we help the student proactively avoid such challenges, by empowering him or her with tools for self-esteem, dynamism, mind-management and growth? The short, 20 minute “Jigyaasa” series are designed to address both these issues.
SPECIAL EVENTS– Milestones deserve to be celebrated and honoured. VESLARC enjoys bringing the VES family together on the occasion of special days like Guru Purnima, International Womens’ Day, VESLARC’s Birthday and “Sameshti”, a VESLARC event in which various activities are conducted for students and staff of VES.
SAHVEERYAM – “I may falter or stumble but when you lend me your hand, I rise, thrive and grow.” It is this sentiment that VESLARC honours, by partnering with local NGO’s who are doing laudable work, but are challenged by low publicity and low sale of the products that they make. VESLARC provides them a helping hand to sell their products in the VES premises, on commemorative dates and before important festivals. We have partnered with NASEOH (National Society For Equal Opportunities For the Handicapped) and Rochiram Thadani School Of Hearing Handicapped.
