Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Architecture (VESCOA) has partnered with Wood from Finland (WFF) and Lab University of Applied Sciences (LUAS), with the aim of cultivating sustainable education pathways and fostering innovative learning experiences for its students. In collaboration with these organisations, VESCOA claims to extend an invitation to students enrolled in architecture and interior design courses to participate in online certificate and diploma programmes, completely fee-free. The objective is to enhance their educational journey and broaden their understanding of sustainability within their field, according to an official release.

WFF, renowned for its forest environment programme, presents a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses six nature management measures aligned with the Finnish Forest Act and forest certification schemes. Students pursuing degrees in architecture or diplomas in interior design will concurrently engage in this coursework, earning credits that are integral to their future endeavours, the release mentioned.

“Through these partnerships, we aim to empower our students with diverse skill sets and a profound understanding of sustainable practices, preparing them to shape a more sustainable future.” Anand Achari, principal, VESCOA, said.

In tandem with this, VESCOA has forged a partnership LUAS, an institution specialising in innovation with strengths in the circular economy, design, innovations, and health. VESCOA students now have the opportunity to enroll in LUAS’s one-year diploma programme on Circular Economy Sustainable Solutions, delivered through online education modules. Successful completion of this diploma course opens doors for students to pursue a degree programme, involving a one-year residential curriculum at LUAS’s Lathi campus, as per the release.

VESCOA further claims to have enrolling 80-100 students annually in the complimentary courses offered by WFF. These courses cover topics such as Wood for Finland (India), Sustainable Solution Engineering and Climate Change, totaling 15, 65 and five credits, respectively. In alignment with the NEP 2020 education system, students are required to complete MOOC online courses and accumulate credits within the Academic Bank Credits (ABC) system.
