The pedagogy of an educational institute refers to the philosophy, approach, and methods used in teaching and learning within that institution. It encompasses the strategies, techniques, and principles employed by educators to facilitate the educational process and foster student development. It’s important to note that the pedagogy of an educational institute can vary based on factors such as cultural context and educational goals. Regardless of that, any architectural education majorly comprises two components: theory and the practical aspects of the field.

In this article, Dr. Prof. Anand Achari shares his perspective on the pedagogy of Architectural education. According to him, Architectural education should have a vibrant, knowledge-oriented environment that helps achieve excellence in the field of Architecture, thereby creating a sustainable and humane habitat. This philosophy of pedagogy can be fulfilled by following certain objectives:

  2. To develop an ambient environment for research and knowledge sharing.
  3. To enable learning towards excellence with a professional disposition.
  4. To encourage creative innovation in the field of architecture.
  5. To sensitize the role and design for sustainable and humane habitats.
