  • ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT  

    • The Department of Biotechnology was established in 2003 and has completed 23 years of remarkable accomplishments, with 20 batches of T.Y.B.Sc.
    •  
    • Since its inception, it has a list of accomplishments to its credits, like 100% passing results from 2006- 2018.
    •  
    • We believe that learning takes place through activities in and beyond the classroom.
    •  
    • Biotechnology fascinates students with an interest in biological sciences, research, and a conviction to contribute to science and society.
    •  
    • Recipient of STAR-DBT Grant 2016-17
    •  
    • Prolonged collaboration with HiMedia Labs Pvt. Ltd. for conduct of workshops and upgradation of lab and equipments
    •  
    • Two air conditioned, fully equipped laboratories available adept to carry out research in Medical microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and Animal Tissue Culture. (funded by PM-USHA grant in 2025-27)
    •  
    • Workshops and industrial visits arranged regularly to provide students with more opportunities to upgrade their skills and learn from the experts.

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

  1. Under graduate and Post Graduate courses aligned with NEP 2020.
  2. Two air-conditioned laboratories are operational, one for regular practicals and the other for Research and Animal Tissue Culture. 120 students successfully trained for Animal Tissue culturing. (2017-2026)
  3. Mentorship program which caters to every student
  4. Research activities leading to participation in Avishkar Research Convention (Research competitions).
  5. Industrial Visits to renowned Biotechnology based Institutes in the nation.
  6. Motivation to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities which include Association activities like Seminar Presentation, Poster Making, Essay Writing, Movie Screening, and Quiz.
  7. Additional skill-based/knowledge-based courses conducted and workshops equipping the students to be suitable for the market and job-ready. Workshop on Molecular biology and Animal Tissue culture giving individual attention and hands on learning
  8. A Post graduate course in Applied Biotechnology which gives advanced education and specialized training in biotechnology catering to academic, research, and industry requirements.
  9. An alumni network which helps in Guest lectures, career guidance session,mentoring sessions and Placement opportunities
  10. The Department has received the award for ‘Highest Contribution Towards Addressing Thrust Areas of Quality Enhancement’ given by the college IQAC.(2017-2018)
  11. Alumni Fund for the payment of fees of Needy students(2019-20).
